Another day, another restaurant!

It was Applebee's turn today, I haven't been there for ages, and I quite forgot how much I actually enjoy it.  Had a nice salad...I would totally do that again. I used to come here all the time when I lived close by, I would meet Lisette here and we'd go to dinner before a movie.

Maybe I'll start doing that again now that I'm single once more.  Nice memories...and a nice evening with lovely people.

...and in case you are wondering, these are the lights at Applebee's!

Tourists

I love having family over to stay - I get to do all the touristy things..today we went up the Calgary tower and took a few photo's - this is Lauren looking a little nervous on the glass floor!

After the tower we had dinner at Ruths Chris, one of my favourite steak restaurants....and would you believe that we stopped on the way home to pick up a cheesecake from the Cheesecake Cafe and then we had a milkshake from Peters Drive In - we hardly touched any of it...but heck, tradition is tradition!

No ordinary car

I must admit I've never done a test drive of a new car quite like this one!  I'm considering getting a new car later this year, so I decided to test drive a BMW....and we made quite the day of it.  The dealership let me have the car overnight, and they paid for dinner at the Palliser while we had it.  So we decided to make a day of it.  Lauren, Fo and I went for a pedicure, had our make up done and Fo and Lauren had their hair done too.

Here is Lauren having her make up done....really, 12 years old is WAY too young to be looking this good!
Dinner at the Palliser was incredible - and here are the 3 girls with newly painted nails...mine are the BRIGHT orange!   I think it was a boring day for Paul!

...and to top it all off, we stopped at Dairy Queen to buy an ice cream cake for Georgia's birthday, even though she is in New York - it brought back memories of when we bought one for her 8th birthday, and I had blue icing in my freezer FOREVER (I guess I wasn't good at cleaning the freezer!  While we were in Dairy Queen we stumbled across the New Zealand canoeing team who sang happy birthday to Georgia in Maori - nice.

Lightning strikes

So technically this photo was yesterday, but it was close....and to keep the rules (which I have clearly not been keeping for the last few months!) I am including another photo that I actually took today

This photo is of the temple from my back window...it was dark dark dark, but the lightning storm was awesome...I took dozens of photo's with the hope that I would catch a lightning strike...I couldn't catch one, but this shows the temple lit up by the lightning in the sky - it was kind of cool!

I have been catching the train to work every day while Paul/Lauren and Fo are here - so I couldn't resist taking a photo on the way home...it actually isn't too bad catching the train to work, I could actually handle it!

I'm Baaaaaccccckkkkk!

OK - so it has been WAY too long since I last blogged,  I have lots of photo's to upload over the last few months, but I know I haven't taken one every day - but so much has happened and is happening that I really shouldn't miss any more days....it's back to the daily photo and the daily blog!

Soooo.  Since I last blogged, I have moved back to Calgary, moved into my dream home, become single again and now I have family visiting from England (Paul, Lauren and Fo).

But one day at a time.  Today was a lovely relaxing day; we watched the mens final basketball at the London Olympics, in the faint hope that we would see Georgia who was working at the match.  We didn't see her, but we know she was there!  Then I went to Church and we all went over to Lisette's for dinner.  I guess it's been a long time since I did that because all the kids are now grown up and the babies are now kids.

Today was the closing ceremonies of the Olympics - so we went to Canada Olympic Park to see the Olympic Flag flying before they take it down

It has been an amazing Olympics,  I wish I had been there.  I can't remember what I used to do in my spare time before they started - but I do know that I have spent all my spare time watching Olympic events!  Team GB were amazing...29 Gold medals; our previous record was 19 (in Beijing)...if you exclude 1900 - which really doesn't count :)

Oh it's good to be blogging again :)
